ECU - Electronic Control Unit

In terminology of VW-group it's any electronic device, which has been carried out some logic function. Sometimes it looks like nonsens - even simple relay can be called ECU.

The coding of Electronic Control Unit used for explain the ECU where it is and what "neighbours" does it have. Very often on modern cars the coding is crossed with adaptation.

Adaptation of the Electronic Control Unit serves to explain to the ECU with whom and how to talk (If we have started to speak allegories) and serves as storehouse of various adjustable parameters. ( part of memory in the Control Unit which can be changed via internal software )

Fresh air blower control unit - J126

 

Fitting location/function:

 

The control unit -J126 is located immediately next to the fresh air blower -V2 and is accessible via the cover in the plenum chamber.

It controls the blower -V2 and the communication with the operating and display unit -J255.

The actual current calculated by operating and display unit -J255

at the

fresh air blower -V2 in A (Amperes)

J The current is switched through from the blower control unit -J126 to the fresh air blower -V2.

Display zone 2:

 

The operating time for the fresh air blower -V2 via the solar roof in h (hours) calculated by the operating and display unit -J255.

J Only relevant in vehicles with a sun roof with solar cells (optional extra).

 

Display zone 3:

 

The actual voltage in V (Volts) transmitted to the operating and display unit -J255 from the fresh air blower control unit J126.

 

Display zone 4:

 

The specified voltage in V (Volts) of the fresh air blower -V2 calculated by the operating and display unit -J255 and transmitted via the fresh air blower control unit J126.

 

K Notes:

J The activation of the -V2 is calculated by the -J255 based on the measured temperatures and the existing settings.

J The fresh air blower speed is transmitted by the control unit -J126 to the -J255.

J To improve the voice recognition and comprehensibility of the telephone voice input, the fresh air blower speed is lowered.

 The reduction takes effect as soon as the telephone speech input information is sent over the convenience system data bus.

 The reduction period is limited to a maximum of 2 minutes.

The amount by which the fresh air blower speed is reduced is dependent on the out-flow direction of the air and the fresh air blower speed when the telephone speech input signal is received.

The higher the proportion of air being routed to the dash panel vents, the more the speed is lowered.

J If the activation of the fresh air blower is OK, and the control unit -J126 detects no fault, the current fresh air blower speed is transmitted by way of a square signal to the -J255. The duty factor of this square signal is approx. 50 percent and the frequency 1/20 of the fresh air blower speed (Example: At a fresh air blower speed of 3000 rpm the frequency of the square signal is 150 Hertz or pulses per sec.)

J If the control unit -J126 detects a fault, it sends a square signal with a frequency of 10 Hertz (pulses per sec.). By way of the duty factor the -J255 identifies the fault found.
